We asked our instructors what seafarers most often forget or overlook before boarding.
And here’s a quick tip from an experienced captain:
🧳 What to take with you:
Don’t bring everything from home. But make sure you have
a full package of documents (including copies)
first aid kit with individual medicines
comfortable work clothes (if allowed)
power bank, adapters and chargers – always useful
🧠 Soft skills that are really appreciated on board:
Ability to react calmly to stress
Clear communication (English is a must!)
Autonomy, but without “heroism”
Respectful attitude to colleagues – everyone on board is in the same boat
About the medical examination:
Don’t put it off until the last minute.
Even if you are “outwardly healthy”, be sure to check your eyesight, hearing, blood pressure, and heart.
And don’t forget to tell your doctor about real problems, if you have any – it’s not a joke.
